PROJECT

The new Coles Distribution Centre at Horsley Business Park will be a state of the art distribution hub. Approved under the NSW Government’s fast track assessment program, the development is set to bring in billions of dollars to NSW’s post COVID economy and create 1,000 new jobs in Western Sydney. It will also help fund the management and enhancement of Western Sydney Parklands.

Within one week of the initial discussion with the consultant our team produced shop drawings and recommend the Vortceptor. The GPT solution was assessed on technical merit and was then specified in the development plans.

SPEL delivered the Vortceptor unit and a precast diversion chamber to the site. Altogether, our team’s quick response and delivery saved the client approximately 4 weeks of lead time.

INSTALLATION

It took about 3 days to complete the installation, including excavation work. The installers hoisted the Vortceptor into the pit using a 30T excavator with a 2.2t lift capacity.

One challenge that the onsite engineer faced was that the installers placed the Vortceptor 700mm off centre. SPEL provided timely support and advised the contractor on how to fix the issue with modified the inlet/outlet chute.

The total installation cost for this project was estimated at$13,000. This included crane hire for installing a 100t diversion chamber, and gravel for backfilling. Minus crane hire, the installation would have cost approximately $8,000. Overall, the Votceptor’s quick and easy installation saved the contractor an estimated $30,000 in cost.
